Chinook Ranch Ltd. - Three Generations of Pride

About Us

Chinook Ranch Ltd. is a family operated cattle ranch.  Our first priority is the animal's welfare and the environment.  We take pride in our heritage and in our product.
Year round there are many events happening around the ranch. Around April 1, is when our heifers and cows will start calving, which is very busy having someone checking them night and day to ensure the safe healthy arrival of the calves.  The weather will either contribute to the calving season or it can have it's disadvantages by having a large snow fall in April contributing to many sunburned udders to deal with, along with warming up cold calves.
Then after calving is done in mid June we have our annual branding day where friends and neighbors come from local and afar to celebrate in branding the annual calf crop for the year.  It is a great time to catch up with old friends, outside with sun shining on the green grass over a home cooked meal!
Then in late September, early October comes weaning where the calves are separated from their mom's in preparation to being sold.  We usually sell the steer crop and retain the high quality heifers to add to our cow numbers.
Throughout the year the cattle are kept in groups and are rotated around the 5,000 acres of Chinook Ranch to graze the natural grasslands of the range.
The cattle are always supplemented with salt blocks, and mineral at certain times of the year to aid with nutritional quality.
Our cattle are moved by following a call from Stephen or Jim to gently let them know that is time to move to new pastures of green grass.  They are very gentle in nature surrounded by the beautiful green grassy hills.

"It's our job to be the best stewards of the land, it's our heritage, and our future"
